WONDERLAND MYSTIC

Melissa Gallego is a Colombian artist.
Her work explores hybrid narrative systems with different materials, mainly highlighting light as raw material.

She has had a career in art, design, and communication since 2008 and has been a university professor since 2018.

She explores through intervened film cameras, generic art, electromagnetism, and animation, among other elements where material media are expressive possibilities. Articulations between spaces and screens with images that involve the shapes of fractals and positional play, with processes that generate concern about what surrounds us, light and shadow, space, matter, and patterns.

"Perception re-constructs our reality, but it does not show us reality itself, we are left with a game of representations that make imagination and creativity possible, it is between this dance of materiality and subtlety where I investigate the patterns of Indra's jewels to make art and philosophical approaches to our precious existence."
